New capability. Ownership Verification is rolling out to Paxos customers. If you don’t see the Ownership Verification tab or a verification prompt yet, contact Support.
Ownership Verification lets you cryptographically prove that you control a blockchain address, independent of any Travel Rule beneficiary information already on file for it. Paxos uses the same Ownership Verification flow across multiple features — for example:
  • Unlocking crypto withdrawals to a private (self-hosted, non-custodial) wallet address, currently required for customers onboarded to Paxos Global Pte. Ltd. (PTE).
  • Confirming eligibility for programs like stablecoin rewards that require proof of wallet control.
Once an address is verified, that proof can be reused anywhere Paxos requires ownership confirmation for that same address and network — you don’t need to re-verify per feature.
Verifying addresses programmatically? The Paxos API calls this flow Address Verification. See the Address Verification developer guide.

Where to find it

Go to Crypto Addresses and select the Ownership Verification tab to view, add, or cancel verifications for any address. If you’re adding or viewing a private wallet address on the Withdrawal Addresses tab and ownership verification is required, you can also start the flow directly from that address’s Verify action.

Verification methods

Choose one of two methods when you start a new verification:

Connect Wallet (Signature)

  1. Select Connect Wallet as the verification method.
  2. Connect your wallet (EVM networks use your browser wallet extension; Solana uses a Solana wallet adapter).
  3. Confirm the connected wallet matches the address you’re verifying.
  4. Review the Message to sign, then click Sign message.
Once signed, the address is verified immediately and moves to Verified.
If you can’t connect your wallet directly (for example, a hardware wallet or an offline signer), click Can’t connect? Paste a signature instead. Sign the displayed message with your wallet externally, then paste the resulting signature back into Paxos and click Verify signature. Use the signature format for your network:
  • EVM networks: EIP-191 (personal_sign).
  • Solana: ed25519.

Small Deposit Test

  1. Select Small Deposit Test as the verification method.
  2. Send the exact Amount to send from the address you’re verifying to the Send to address shown, on the specified network.
  3. Click I’ve sent the deposit.
The address moves to Pending Verification while Paxos watches for the deposit. Paxos detects the deposit once it confirms on-chain, which typically takes a few minutes depending on the network. Once detected, the address is verified automatically — no further action is needed. If it’s still pending after 15 minutes, confirm you sent the exact amount from the address being verified. Send the deposit before the countdown shown as Time remaining runs out, or the request expires.

Supported networks

Self-serve verification supports a growing list of networks, shown when you start a verification in the dashboard. If your address’s network isn’t listed, you can’t self-serve verify it yet.
To withdraw to a private wallet on an unsupported network, contact address-whitelisting@paxos.com and our team will verify ownership manually.

Verification statuses

Allowlisting for private wallet withdrawals

This applies only to private (self-hosted) wallet addresses used for crypto withdrawals by customers onboarded to Paxos Global (PTE). For these addresses, verification and allowlisting are separate steps. Once the address is verified, Paxos allowlists it through a background process, so it can take some time before you can withdraw to it. Check the address on the Withdrawal Addresses tab, and contact Support if the address still can’t be used after a reasonable wait. Verified addresses used for other purposes aren’t affected.

Cancel a pending verification

On the Ownership Verification tab, use Cancel on a pending verification if you no longer need it or want to restart with a different method.
Cancelling permanently ends that verification request — it doesn’t pause it. You’ll need to start a new verification to complete ownership verification for the address.

FAQs

Do I need to verify ownership for every address I want to withdraw to? Only addresses that require ownership verification — currently, private wallet addresses for customers onboarded to Paxos Global (PTE). Addresses hosted by a supported custodian don’t need this step. Is verification per address, or per organization? Per address and network. Verifying one address doesn’t verify others, even if they belong to the same wallet provider. What happens if I lose access to the wallet after verifying it? Contact Support. Ownership Verification confirms control at the time of verification; report any change in control of a verified address right away.
